When Spring Passes Me By
I passed the spring
with trees full of blossoms
They leave so quickly
and before I know it
the summer has crept in

Like the cat carefully seated on the windowsill
waiting in earnest to pounce on the unsuspicious tattler

And so, no news breaks out
No light sheds on the coming days
I cannot make heads or tails of it
When spring passes by me so quickly

Summer is hot, and it demands a certain aptitude
A mastery
A skill of some kind
A talent
Or everyone is going to be miserable and bored

I suppose I have to entertain
Standing in not-dead grass
We have sweet tea or lemonade or strawberry lemonade or sweet tea-strawberry-lemonade
Or water
Take your pick
Because that’s the only choice you get

Just as time blows past like some category 5 hurricane winds
At times there is no protection
No shelter
And unfortunately, every single choice you make for life matters

So,
What will you have to drink?
