I Don't Know He Said
How much longer?
I ask.
I don't know.
He said.
I turn away,
Tears welling.
Heart Sinking with dread.
He continues the conversation
Not noticing the pain that I feel.
I answer him,
Calmly
Hoping my heart will quickly heal.
Then suddenly he senses,
Something's not quite right.
He asks, are you okay baby?
You know I don't wanna fight.
I calmly answer again,
Sweetheart I'm just fine.
Hoping he believes
I'm not feeding him a line.
I don't like him knowing
That I hurt from all this.
It's not anyone's fault.
It's just him that I miss.
