The Paradox of Good Friday
As the snow and rain begin packing their bags,
And Spring prepares to join us for awhile,
I think of a very dark day and a cross
And I find that I can't help but smile.

I know that's not what's expected
In response to our Savior's death,
But I can't forget on that very dark day,
Jesus died to give us holy breath.

That day came to be known as Good Friday.
But many struggle to understand why.
How could a day be called good
When it's the day that our Savior died?

It can take a while to grasp the meaning.
And an effort to understand the paradox,
That good can look like bad
While bad can be how opportunity knocks.

God created the worst day in History
For the opportunity to show us His best.
So we would know that what Jesus offers
Like Jesus himself, is more powerful than death.

So if you will stretch your imagination,
As you ponder for what Jesus stood.
You will receive the truth of the gospels
And finally understand why Friday is good.
