Indeed I've Dreamt of Death, My Darling
Of death I’ve dreamt,
Indeed I have,
My darling dearest girl
Take a closer look,
Be sure...
For your choice can never be reversed
Would you wish sink this life you’ve known,
To the bottom of the sea,
Even if, beside your own,
It drowned your family?
And you,
Alone
Love’s a ship,
Built out of bricks.
It shouldn’t float,
And yet it does
If ever you feel your hands are stained,
Do not cower from the light,
Don’t hide away inside the dark.
Cause should you feel your hands are stained,
Well, we’ve such a miracle as soap
So next you feel your heart’s awoke,
Awoken, yes,
Though as an oak.
Heavy, rough, turned black with rot,
Know that mourning doves still fly.
With sea swept air,
And starstruck eyes,
Sails unfurl wide
So next you dream of death, My dearest,
Think of those to which you’re nearest,
Think of those whose love is fiercest.
Who will break,
And who will lie.
Who will whisper,
And who will cry.
Who will love,
And who will hate.
Who’ll resent,
And who’ll debate.
Who will give,
And who will take.
Your loss would drain the sea of tears,
Without the waves,
Wind disappears.
And when the ship has run aground,
Who is lost,
And who is found?
When the hull has split,
And the mast is down,
When the morning’s dark,
And no birds fly,
Who will still be left alive,
To spread your ash across the land,
To leave your gold beneath the sand?
Who will still be left alive,
To loose your doves,
Into the sky?
So darling dearest,
Don't decide
So fight, my child
Think,
Be wise.
Fight, my child,
Use your eyes,
Watch, as past,
The doves do fly,
For we've lost too many to the sky,
So look around, my child,
See the love,
The doves that fly.
So now, my child,
Do decide
Decide to stay awhile
Stay and stand beside,
Beside these loving eyes
