Ode To The Woodland
Restoring peace in the cosmos,
My eyes wander in the visage of the rain
A wanderlust which seeps like an antidote
To the masquerades of life - the poison ivy ropes.

The verdant countryside gleams like hope;
Revelling in the sunlight which bestows -
It’s scintillating strength to olive leaves,
Which receive this befalling affinity.

Incandescent on my blanched skin,
Ablaze on the auburn ground;
Like the fire of the desires in a soul
The Sun presents it’s coruscant glow.

Although I gaze as if it were a matinee,
I withstand the wind’s revelry
For it departs like the world of promises
A world which stole slivers of faith.

But I find it once again through the cerulean skies -
The bearer of comforting hope,
Shared by the sunken silhouettes
Of widespread labyrinthine souls.

A poem with 5 stanzas - 5 elements namely water, earth, fire, wind and sky which are seen from my window. They are associated with aspects of life as well.

1st Stanza: water element in the form of rain. It heals the poet from the difficulties in life.

2nd Stanza: earth element. It represents the importance of bonds in life, by the word ‘affinity’ and shows this ‘bond’ by saying that the leaves thrive in the light of the sun, it other words, the sun has a bond with trees/leaves.

3rd stanza: fire element in the form of sun. it represents passion for a particular field, in the metaphor ‘the fire of the desires in a soul’

4th stanza: wind element. it reminds the poet about changing promises of humans, due to the way it changes its direction.

5th stanza: sky element. hope is restored by it as it connects all the people in the world.
