A stolen morsel more precious than gold,
A stolen shirt to keep out the cold,
There is no price to hunger,
There is no price to shelter,
There is no price to kindness

A crumb of bread,
More prized than gold,

A ragged cloak,
To ward off the cold,

Hunger knows,
No measure,

Shelter is a treasure,
Kindness is a pleasure,

But stealing,
Has a cost,

A cost of,
Breaking chains,

A cost of,
Living in the shadows,

A cost of,
Hiding stains,

A cost of,
Losing wings,

And justice,
Has a value,

A value of,
Mending wounds,

A value of,
Sharing bread,

A value of,
Singing tunes,

A value of,
Finding clues,

So what is the coin,
You're spending,

To buy,
The life you seek,

To weigh,
The scales of living,

To voice,
The ones who are meek,

To love,
The gift of being!
