Iceberg
God only knows,
I’ve been busy surviving,
trying to stay afloat.
But in the rush,
I forgot the things that kept me alive.
The acknowledgment,
like a shower in late June,
washes over me—
overwhelming emotions,
like the high tide.
A reminder sets in,
like a pick to an ice bed:
I am safe with the idea
that I am slowly melting away.
Beneath the surface,
a deeper meaning lays underneath it all.
