Nostalgia
When I think about you
I'm reminded of a time it felt easier to smile
Even if we weren't as close back then
I always found our friendship something worthwhile
It was so long ago
And I still remember that one particular conversation
One we used to laugh so much about
And one that has now turned into a haunting sensation
For today you're engaged
Having everything you ever dreamt about
Yet I'm not a part of that life
And it hurts so damn much that you've shut me out
Yet I keep holding on to memories
To people that I'm sure aren't thinking about me
While yearning for nostalgia
To bring us all back to a place where we still knew how to be free
Yet I never wish to go back
Because I know what comes after those years
And I'll still end up on this same floor
Writing this poem while silently holding back my tears...
