Mariam
Mariam, just a maid in their eyes,
Subjected to curses, insults, and painful ties.
They treat her like a scapegoat,
In this household where hearts are remote.

The kids, the mom, the aunt, all but the dad,
Behave heartlessly, making Mariam sad.
From the wealthy, what else could I foresee?
A facade of smiles for the world to see.

But behind closed doors, chaos reigns,
In insults and curses, they find their gains.
Even the mother turns on her own,
In a family where empathy is overthrown.

I stayed for two weeks, saw through Mariam's lens,
In this toxic environment, my heart it rends.
How does she cope, day after day?
Especially during her periods, I dare not say.

Mariam, a symbol of resilience and grace,
Enduring hardships in this heartless place.
A family I'd never choose to reside,
My heart breaks for her, deep inside.
