Kopf·ki·no/Kópfkino [german noun] - The act of playing out an entire scenario in your mind. Hard translation is “head cinema” and as the definition goes, these are for those times where you start daydreaming or imagining scenarios about how a situation will unravel.

This stifling lethargy — pale yellow in color—
knotting my wrists into this monotony
and had my limbs turn glass brittle 

Round and around, the clock taunts 
as if, every tock of the tick is but–
another of the other days indeed

But alas!
 the brain champions this wreckage 

by flipping pages of–
both memory and wishful thinking 



I could be:

 the ocean, 
the sea, 
the fire underneath the earth,  
the howling moon, 
the jealous wind

I could have been: 

the lover, 
the wife, 
the mistress, 
the keeper,
the witch, 
the saint—

I could have done: 

the leaving,
the staying, 
the resting, 
the flying,
the fighting,
the dying,
the living—

 

Oh, so much living, indeed.

(Such a fucking waste.)

The regrets inked so thick
inside this vessel.
So incendiary. 

all of these human bones, soft tissues

a heart and prison ribs 
but millions of 'what ifs'
glued to the cerebrum 

the filmstrip of you 
unwinds and resets—

'What could you change if you could?'
