Regrets
#WritcoPoemPrompt115
Threw out old boxes,
Regrets and photographs,
Empty pockets and lockets,
As I sifted through my memories,
Tossed aside the things I'd kept,
I felt a sense of liberation,
From the weight that had me kept.
The boxes held the remnants,
Of a past I had outgrown,
And though it was hard to let go,
I knew it was time to move on.
The regrets and the photographs,
Were just reminders of the pain,
And though they held a certain power,
I refused to let them reign.
Empty pockets and lockets,
Signified a change of course,
A desire to start anew,
With a newfound sense of force.
So I gathered up the pieces,
Of a life I once had known,
And decided to embrace the future,
With fresh perspective and a heart of stone.
