Love is here, love is there,
Busy everywhere.
Around, within, beneath,
Described as pure,
Full of joy and happiness.
But dig deeper, see it as it is-
The silent tears and lingering pain.
Sure you'll laugh,
But you'll also hurt, deeply.
It sets a mark
On who we are
And what we feel,
Changing what we know,
What we believed,
Creating new fears.
No matter how cold or immune
You believe yourself to be,
It gets to you, spreads fast,
Defrosts the ice and sometimes hardens it.
But that is love:
Both beautiful and ugly.
