Oceans Away
You are so far away ,oceans away
Still your presence lingers in everything I see
The old book of pictures
Of birds, flowers and trees
That we read together
Stopping at every picture to point out which one we liked
Turning pages with shy glances
Feeding each other the cookies we stole
from grandma's jar
Do you remember the flower you gave me in the garden?
You told me you would marry me when we were five
With that flower as a promise
We giggled and ran around the garden
With our faces filled with so much love
You used to feed me every sweet dish that you can get
Telling me that I should experience all the sweetness in this world from you
But now you are oceans away
In a land I barely know
You promised me that you will return
And I am waiting for you with the wilted flower of your promise
That I still managed to protect
For you
As a promise of my own
That I will protect and cherish our love
Even if you are oceans away
