Trust Great Gran
A quite elegantly aged woman once said
Say the thoughts— don't keep ideas in your head
Some of my greatest regrets heavy weighing
Revolve around the times of my not saying

So say all the words that you manage to think
'Less you've been doping or heavy on the drink
Then you should likely think twice before talking
'Less you want the post-dawn tales to be shocking

Besides regretting times bitting my sharp tongue
I regret leaving my best loon sweatshirt hung
Closeted— smothered in a plastic coating
'Stead of on the town for eyes to be doting

Wear the bright white pants that have to be dry-cleaned
Wear the jeans with knees holey or a bit greened
Wear the leather coat— the hat— the pretty dress
Dress yourself in things that cause your soul's impress

Who cares if you're just popping by the quick stop
The library— the buffet— the coffee shop
Wear all your good clothes and say all your smart words
They're going to chirp either way, all the birds

So you give them pretty things to chirp about
Oh, keep the silverware and fine china out
Use it like the fancy gent or dame you are
It's all wasted packed away in a sidebar

Take a quick trip on this and or that jetstream
Pack up the car— hop on a train— live your dream
Hit the street using two feet and your heartbeat
Dressed in all your best— don't you dare be discreet

You only live once so wear, say, do the things
Go the places— see the faces— pull the strings
Be the bright shining star you were born to be
Drop a two-step like you're living fully free

Hey Macarena or CanCan if you can
You won't always be a spring chick, trust great gran
Enjoy moments wholly— take them in amply
But don't be a hoe, don't go getting sampley...

She would have me deep belly laughing for days
Giving concise advice in amusing ways
She would stab a hot dog with a silver knife
While handing out the advice that shapes my life

To lionize great gran I speak my sharp mind
Wearing sweatshirts considered one of a kind
I go all the places great gran would have went
I hear her echo, "We need not an event!"
