The purge
Eyes heavy with the weight of tears,
And a body burdened with sins,
Gritting teeth through the skin.
Tell me, good lord, if I shed
Shall I get cleansed?
Be pure again,
Like a baby, like a saint?
If I let the rivers of regret,
Flow right through my veins,
As I shed,
So that I may bathe,
In the pool of my own blood,
And clean off the mud,
Weighing down my feet,
Shall I then be lighter?
And see the light,
But not the fire?
