To Imagine, Is To Suffer
I sit here
On a lovely spring day
Purple petals falling
And birds tap dancing away
Am I at peace?
Rather not
There's things I want to achieve
In far away places, wherever I please
Or I remember great joy
When friends laughed at my jokes
And mother kept me safe as a boy
Or I think of my self
All the maladies
Pained, dark moments
Anxious possibilities
Waiting to unfurl
As well as people
I'd rather be
All in the grand play of my mind
In the distant future, in memory
All of which right here
Hold zero reality
And will never be
Imagining better
Imagining worse
I suffer
