Reading Minds -20
Standing in front of the entryway to the basement, I was contemplating on moving inside. This part of the mansion was restricted and only few were allowed. I had managed to somehow go unnoticed and reach here.
The dim lights hanging in the long corridor reminded me of the day I ran away from here. Memories flashed back, chaos , noises, bangs and an injured person I had saved. I was hesitant to enter because I knew what I was going to find in one of those many rooms, blood and destruction. This was more difficult as I was searching for my family here. I didnt want to see them hanging on some wire and dripping with blood,my hands ran cold on the very thought.
I slowly moved ahead making sure the guards don't see me. I managed to get their round timings and this seemed to be the perfect moment for trespassing.
Very gently, I opened the first door , complete darkness surrounded me. Within a millisecond, a sharp fork was dodged aiming right for my throat, I missed it just by a centimeter. A mocking laugh was heard right after. I quickly closed the door with a bang and went ahead.
What kind of people were imprisoned here ?
I opened the second door and a very familiar stench hit my nose, the smell of death. It was a dimly lit room with no windows. A series of chains clanked, as if I woke them up. The creatures that attacked me a few days ago, sat imprisoned by those rusted chains. One of them smiled at me , showing off it's horrendous teeth and hissed.
" Well hello Sophia. Long time no see. Searching for your missing family ?"
I immediately closed the door, my hands sweating and legs going numb. How did they know about my family ?
Did they read my mind ? Did they know I was going to trespass the basement? why did no one tell me more of such creatures exist?
Crazy possibilities ran through my head.
I was interrupted by a long bang which I very well recognised as a gun being fired. A loud thump followed and a door right next to me opened.
" What are you doing here ?" said the deep yet familiar voice I had heard so long ago.
