Kashmir-A tale of love and resilience:- Chapter 3: A Father's Return, A Lover's Vow
( contdd.......)

The news of Ahmed's mother's passing spread through their neighborhood like wildfire,
casting a dark shadow over the already troubled hearts of its residents. But amidst the grief
and sorrow, a flicker of hope emerged as Ahmed's father returned home, his body battered
and bruised, a mere shadow of the man he once was.
Ahmed's heart constricted with a mixture of relief and horror as he took in the sight of his
father, his body swollen and disfigured from the beatings he had endured at the hands of the
army. Gone was the proud and stoic figure Ahmed had always looked up to, replaced now
by a broken and shattered man.
As Ahmed's father caught sight of his wife, lying in her white cloth coffin, ready to be buried
in the graveyard, he let out a gut-wrenching cry of anguish. The sound echoed through the
silent streets, a haunting reminder of the senseless tragedy that had befallen their family.
For Ahmed, the loss of his mother and the return of his father only added to the turmoil that
consumed his heart. On one hand, he grieved for the loss of the woman who had been his
rock, his guiding light in the darkest of times. On the other hand, he felt a profound sense of
anger and helplessness at the sight of his father's broken body, a stark reminder of the brutality of the world they lived in.

(PAUSE..... A WEEK LATER)

And amidst it all, Ahmed found solace in the arms of Aaliya, the one person who had stood
by him through it all. They had met years ago, in the narrow alleys of their neighborhood,
where they had shared their hopes and dreams under the watchful gaze of the moon. Aaliya,
with her fairy brown eyes and quiet strength, had captured Ahmed's heart from the moment
they first met, and now, in the midst of their darkest hour, she remained his steadfast
companion. Despite her own grief and pain, she remained a pillar of strength for Ahmed,
offering him comfort and support when he needed it most.
As the evening sky painted shades of orange and pink over the horizon, Ahmed and Aaliya
sat together on the rooftop, their hearts heavy with the weight of the world pressing down
on them. The cool breeze offered some respite from the stifling heat of the day, but it did
little to ease the burden of their worries.
Ahmed gazed out at the city spread out before him, the once bustling streets now eerily
silent in the fading light. "It's been a week since Ammi passed away," he said softly, his voice
tinged with sorrow. "I still can't believe she's gone."
Aaliya reached out a comforting hand, squeezing Ahmed's tightly in hers. "I know, Ahmed.
It's hard to accept. She was like a mother to me too," she said, her voice choked with
emotion.
Ahmed nodded, a tear slipping down his cheek. "I miss her so much, Aaliya. She was the
anchor that held our family together," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper.
They sat in silence for a moment, lost in their own thoughts, before Aaliya spoke up again.
"And now with Abbu... we don't even know if he's safe," she said, her voice trembling with fear. "Every day, I worry that they'll come for him too."
Ahmed squeezed her hand reassuringly, his heart aching at the thought of his father's safety.
"I know, Aaliya. But we have to stay strong. We'll find a way to get through this, together,"
he said, his voice filled with determination.
But even as they tried to find solace in each other's presence, the weight of their worries
threatened to overwhelm them. "And what about our studies, Ahmed?" Aaliya asked, her
brow furrowed with concern. "We can't just put our lives on hold forever."
Ahmed sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "I know, Aaliya. But with
everything that's going on... it's hard to focus. I feel like I'm drowning in a sea of
uncertainty," he admitted, his voice filled with frustration.
But even in the midst of their worries, they found comfort in the knowledge that they had
each other. And as they watched the stars begin to twinkle in the night sky, they vowed to
face whatever challenges lay ahead, together, hand in hand.
As they sat together on the rooftop, watching the sun set over the horizon, Ahmed took
Aaliya's hand in his, his heart heavy with emotion. "Aaliya, I know that times are tough, but
I can't imagine going through this without you by my side. Will you marry me?" he asked, his voice trembling with emotion.
Aaliya's eyes widened in surprise, her heart skipping a beat at the unexpected proposal. "Yes,
Ahmed. Yes, a thousand times yes!" she exclaimed, tears of happiness streaming down her
face as she threw her arms around him.
In that moment, as they held each other tightly, Ahmed and Aaliya knew that no matter
what the future held, they would face it together. For in the midst of all the chaos and
uncertainty, their love was a beacon of hope, guiding them through the darkest of times.
And as they looked out at the world spread out before them, they knew that as long as they had each other, they could weather any storm that came their way.
