"The power of Self-love"
#WritcoStoryPrompt77
"I'll never forget that summer evening when my friends, Alex and Maddie, posted a picture of their romantic beachside dinner on social media. They were gazing into each other's eyes, hands clasped together, and smiles that lit up the screen. I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Why couldn't I have a love like that?
As I scrolled through my feed, I saw more posts from other couples - cozy date nights, surprise getaways, and sweet gestures. It seemed like everyone was in love except me. I felt like the perpetual third wheel, always tagging along on their adventures, but never having one of my own.
One evening, as we were all hanging out at Alex's place, I couldn't help but feel like an outsider. They were cuddled up on the couch, and I was sitting alone on the armchair, nursing a cup of coffee. That's when it hit me - I was so focused on what I didn't have that I was neglecting the amazing friendships I did have.
I excused myself and took a walk outside. The fresh air cleared my head, and I realized that love comes in many forms. I had incredible friends who cared about me deeply, and that was something to cherish.
When I returned, Alex and Maddie noticed my change in demeanor and asked if I was okay. I opened up about my feelings, and they listened with empathy. We talked long into the night, sharing laughter and stories, and I felt grateful for their presence in my life.
From then on, I made a conscious effort to celebrate others' love without comparing it to my own journey. I focused on nurturing my friendships and cultivating self-love. And you know what? That's when I started to notice the beauty of my own unique path, and the love that was already surrounding me."
