Dear You
For the many times you've been told,
By people who are ruthless and cold:

"You are not good enough,"
"You won't ever make it,"
"You're not worth it,"
"You don't belong here."

For the many times you've been abused, maligned, taken advantage of, accused,
By broken people who are evil and unkind,

For the many times you
were confused, felt guilty and shamed,
Unloved, uncared for, and unwanted,
With the many things
you've experienced since you were a child,
And still fighting hard to make it in this life,

One thing I am sure of:
they hurt because they are broken souls.
They don't know love, and so they hate.
Too blind to see, too deaf to hear,
too numb to feel, too proud to admit,
Too caught up to grab attention
and take credit, too lost to ruin you.

You, dear you,
Open your heart to what I'll say:

"You are enough,"
"You are making it,"
"You are worthy,"
"You belong here."

May these words speak volumes, echo,
and be the melody your heart sings.
May they resonate and orchestrate
a concert in your mind.
May they pick you up and heal you,
dressing all your wounds.
May you feel the encompassing love,
ignite hope, and strengthen you.

"You, dear you,
You are loved.
You are important.
And I am proud of you."
