IN THE DEPTHS OF THE NIGHT
In the depths of the night, I search for a friend true and kind,
But met with faces masked, illusions of a deceptive mind.
Yearning for a love so deep, my soul aches with desire,
While in this world of deceit, I walk alone, a heart on fire.

No one to call my own, no solace in sight,
Even God’s guiding hand seems to have taken flight.
I fear the breaking of my fragile heart,
And so I roam the world, torn apart.

Every corner I turn, every glance I take,
The world seems unfamiliar, a mirage to forsake.
Love’s pillar stands weakened, its foundation stripped bare,
Friendship seems shallow, a facade to beware.

I seek a love like that of Romeo and Juliet,
A bond so strong, unbreakable and true.
I reach out to the heavens, words whispered to the soul,
Holding back tears, my eyes hiding the toll.

I am yours, I say, in hopes you’ll understand,
Before the end comes near, before time slips through our hands.
As days turn to years, pain blends with hues,
Sometimes death beckons, a tempting ruse.

I do not wish to live in this world of despair,
Take me by the hand, show me you care.
Come now, be merciful, my beloved, do not delay,
For in your embrace, I find solace, come what may.
