Fences Down.
As Charlotte was locking her front, excited about the family outing that had been planned for a few weeks. She slowly made her way over to the car in her driveway, where here her young son and her mother were waiting for her.
With a happy thoughts in her mind for the coming hours ahead, she was excited to be spending some wonderful quality time with those two very special people in her life. Creating some new memories to log and to recall in her future days.
It was February a coldish month and half term for the schools.
With a happy thoughts, of spending some lovingly quality time together for a few hours. In that very second of time all felt so right in the world.
Then as Charlotte, turned round and began to walk towards the car, a sudden head pain quickly formed in her head. As an extremely hostile voice started to shout over to her. Charlotte heard no pleasantries and no kindness in that tone, hence the lazy communication and lack of even addressing her by her name.
“ That fence is blocking my light. I’m to have it taken down!”
Charlotte was amazed and shocked by her neighbour’s unfriendly tone. “Wow!” She thought. A sudden feeling of doom came over Charlotte.
She looked over to the angry woman, whose verbal tone was extremely aggressive and nasty.
“ That fence is coming down!” Shouted the neighbour again. “I’m sending an email about it today!” Screamed the hostile neighbour.
Charlotte looked at the woman, shaking with from her nervous disposition she responded in the same way, with equal verbal hostility, as the woman didn’t deserve anything else from the way she was acting. It was very unlike Charlotte to react at people, this was a completely new and most unhappy of experiences for her.
The hostile woman, continued in her most shouty and verbally hostile manner, with she appeared to be getting off on in her own neurological sick way.
Charlotte looked at the unfriendly neighbour and with the sudden raised anxiety in her body along with a shaky feeling of her voice, she said…
“Send your email and i can give you the email address too!”
The hostile neighbour suddenly became even more hostile with her extremely aggressive verbal tone and with her body language to.
Charlotte, couldn’t believe how one person could make her feel so physically sick within minutes, from how they made her feel. The woman began to walk round a bit further towards Charlotte still with a n extremely hostile verbal tone and still shouting at the top
of her lungs. The woman was cunning enough to not move onto Charlotte property, but to still make her unpleasant nature felt. The woman then turned round and walked back
into her house (which was only a few steps away) where she was met by a friend who was watching from near the front door step and enforcing a sense of unspoken hostile support for her the shouty woman. Which was a two people
against one person situation which was extremely unfair and frightening to say the least for Charlotte.
As Charlotte, looked away from the angry woman, her mum who was watching it all from inside the car on the driveway along with Charlotte’s young and impressionable son. Charlotte’s mother came out of the car and said to her… “Come away and let’s go, don’t worry we’ll sort something out.” Charlotte’s mum, could feel her daughter’s body shaking with much emotional anxiety and emotional stress as she led Charlotte into the car.
The mood for their family day out was suddenly changed within a few minutes from happy and exciting to fearful and sad.
That night Charlotte begin with a series of scary nightmares which didn’t help matters, as she was already in the early stages of the menopause and her other health conditions which were requiring a few more visits to the doctor at that time, along side the fact that her father’s symptoms with the dementia that he was experiencing was an additional worry and concern for Charlotte. So these nightmares that she was suddenly experiencing and the early menopause symptoms that had begin as well, so varied in symptoms so often through each day, was an awful lot to already cope with as a young single mum.
As time moved on, Charlotte knew things needed to improve for her in some way as she was already experiencing too much for one person with no partener to emotionally support her. It did feel a lot of the time just her and her young son against the world. Then added to all
of that a hostile and aggressive neighbour, it wasn’t the greatest of combinations for Charlotte at all.
As time rolled on, eventually things changed in her life, but her days became even more emotionally painful with the death of her dad.
It was difficult to read her thoughts from the page about a man who she’d known all her life. The tears began before she started to speak and so her goodbye to him in the Church that day. Luckily, her sister spoke the words that were needed to be said through those moments,on that saddest of days.
As everyone followed the coffin to the cemetery, the tears kept on falling and falling.
At lot had changed now and all memories from various times of Charlotte’s childhood were spinning around in her head like a merry go round.
One thing Charlotte knew for certain was that change in life was a certainty. Just like death and taxes.
