I am a villager, all my relatives are from the village. To reach those places, however, one had to go through small towns by train and bus. So I had a little idea about the city, especially sometimes I spent some hours in the city doing various things with my dear uncle. There was no google then, people had to reach the destination by asking. I found the names of different parts of the city on the sign boards like these - Rabindrasarani, Malancha, Gul Para Road, Bamun Goli, Gulancha path
Taltala Road, Basak Para Road, Makalitala, Vivekananda Road etc. etc. Our village is very big, two panchayats, about ten thousands voters, there was no name of path in our village. However, the names of some parts were - Bol Tala, Hat Tala, Babupara, Shankhari Para, Tanti Para, Bamun Para, Sundi Para, Bandha Ashwattha Tala, Shivtala, Charakdanga, Club, Iskul Para, Bus Stand, Bene Para, Jelepara etc. etc.
I went to in the village of Pisima ( father's sister) during the summer, I read at 8-9 then , that is a big village like ours. All alleys are named like that. Sitting in the courtyard of the house in the evening, talking with Pisima, etc., suddenly there is a knock on the door and a shout - Is Subir uncle in the house? Name of Subir is of Pishemashay ( husband of pisima) . Who, who are calling ?Pisima responded . The man then said - I am coming from Badur Para and opened the door and reached the courtyard. In the light of the room, I saw a black dress on the lungi, the arms were a little too long. It seemed little bit like a
bat. When the man left, I asked my relatives, In our village there are Bamun para, chasa para etc ,why is it there in your village Badur (Bat) para ? Is there a race called bats? The man also seemed to see a bat. (The question came because one of my Pisima 's village had a Bede para , Bede a snake catcher community) Everyone laughed. PCisy's son says, actually there is a big colony of bats in that neighborhood. I urge to get me see . Brother, say not now, I will take it tomorrow during the day.
The next morning I went after Tiffin, I saw black bats hanging from many trees in the neighborhood, mostly tamarind trees. It was unimaginable to see such huge bats before
I didn't see it hanging, I only saw one two pictures of bats in the book. It's like all the trees bought by bats, my brother says - everything is empty in the evening, everything appears in the morning.
Truely is a colony of bats. The correct name is 'Badur Para'.
