In the distant ache of longing,
after our love's sweet song,
life's relentless march goes on,
a painful truth, a road foregone.

Our paths diverged, forced to part,
though once we dreamed of never parting.
We pictured growing old together,
side by side, through every weather.
But fate had other plans in store,
taking you from me too soon, too sore.

I sit upon our bench of dreams,
where memories dance in golden beams,
wondering what could have been,
if you were still here, my kin.

I gaze upon the ring you gave,
a symbol of the love we crave.
A love that vowed to never part,
yet here I am, with broken heart.

Up in the sky, among the stars,
I wonder if you see my scars.
Do you hear my cries of pain,
wishing you were here again?

I question why you had to go,
what torment brought you sorrow's blow.
Was my love not strong enough,
to shield you from life's bitter rough?

We grew up in a world so hard,
finding solace in each other's guard.
Our love, a beacon in the night,
yet it seems it wasn't enough to fight.

But still, I hope you've found your peace,
where pain and suffering find release.
May you soar among the heavens high,
no more tears, no more goodbye.

As for me, I'll stay and strive,
to live and love, to stay alive.
For I believe, in time we'll meet,
in a place where sorrow and pain retreat.

So rest now, my love, in your sky so blue,
knowing I'll be waiting for you.
Until the day we reunite,
in love's eternal, boundless light.
