Solitary Confinement (Apostrophe Poem)
Solitary Confinement, you are the worst; miserable
is how I must describe you. I can feel the loneliness
gnawing at my very being. The steel walls that contain
me cause the cold to start the freezing of my bones;
the shivering sensation of absolute isolation. The poor
spider in the corner has been my only friend for hours
and hours on end. This short time has felt like an eternity
and I long to feel the breeze from outdoors and to hear
the sound of laughter, crying, or anything but silence.
Oh, how being grounded and restrained in the walls of my
room is the worst you could possibly do, solitary confinement.
