Crashing into Darkness
A crackle lit up the sky,
"Look out!"
And boom.
Tick tock, tick tock.
Music playing on repeat,
Screeching, roaring,
A siren pierced the air.
Tick tock, tick tock.
I blink.
Droplets fill my eyes,
Rain, tears, blood.
The clock continues.
An ear-splitting scream,
Ears ringing
My mom's car flipped over in the corner of my vision.
Tick tock, tick tock.
A body dangling upside down,
Droplets of scarlet trickling down her face,
Her neck snapped like a twig.
Tick tock, tick tock.
Propping up my body,
I whimper, spitting out blood,
And shout for help.
Tick tock, tick tock.
Laying on rock-hard cement, I feel numb.
Silence roared in my ears, drowning out the chaos;
A shadow runs towards me.
Tick tock, tick tock.
I close my eyes,
And a shuddering breath escapes me.
I reach out into the looming darkness.
My time has come, my hourglass empty, my clock broken.
