What is Life?

As far as a letter goes,
It was nondescript,
The message it carried was sinister
Or so it seemed,
It boasted of my mortality,
It eulogized the inevitability of death,
As it jeered at how all accomplishments were meaningless,
That all happiness was an illusion,
That my very existence was such a big farce,
It challenged me, and I shuddered to think,
Was not long before I realised though
Then cajoled my sense and sensibility,
My mortality has taught me,
How pristine can immortality be
If well lived in deeds and not in years!
