Pain's Sweet Sting
‍What manner of pain do you feel?
When you burn your hand and your skin does peel?
What pattern of screams do you make?
When you've endured the most you can take,
What kind of things do you say?
Anything you feel can take the sorrow away,
That pain that cuts deep into your veins,
That stretches like a horse pulled back on its reins,
That makes you yearn for help even from a rat,
And makes you beckon even on the cat,
Alas, this pain is different and cannot be said,
Its the kind of pain that makes you lay in your bed,
And lay down for hours, pouring down a waterfall,
Wishing you became shorter because you never deserved to be tall,
The kind of pain that you know you deserve,
In front of your friends, your happiness you preserve,
So there you lie knowing the truth,
You soar in the sky on the mighty wing,
Smiling with tears, to pain's sweet sting.
