Long Lost Flame - Villanelle
I'm reminded still of that long lost flame
by the shore which pulses in and out.
Those feelings which I yearn to reclaim.

I speak out loud and without shame
of the perilous path and whispered doubts,
I'm reminded still of that long lost flame.

The wants of the flesh, seasoned and tamed.
A taste so divine when uttered aloud,
those feelings which I yearn to reclaim.

The songbird's orchestra so beautifully exclaimed,
their notes which tame the soul's violent shout.
I'm reminded still of that long lost flame.

Even the loss and, inevitable pain,
The mountain I cannot surmount.
Those feelings which I yearn to reclaim.

I'd do every day of hurt again
Just to feel your presence unbound
I'm reminded still of that long lost flame,
Those feelings which I yearn to reclaim.
