How was the writer born....
Writing to me was purely coincidence. it all started during my college days. My first year away from family sharing my room with a friend who would turn up to be with me forever.

This was the year 2002. When we use letter and STD for phone calls the mobile phone were yet not a thing. My room mate was in deeply in love a girl from his hometown Delhi. School romance that too one sided. They were good friends but none of then had courage to speak their heart. Everyday right after the collage my friend use to call Delhi and speak to her for hours without thinking that he is burning his pocket money. Later after dinner he would just pour his heart out to me about this girl and the various topics they had conversation on. This was like a daily routine. And I had no girlfriend so I ended up listening to his stories as I had no other choice.

Gradually I could feel the intensity of his love and pushed my friend to confess his love to her. I use to stand outside the STD and try to remind him to say, but he never gathered the courage to confess his feeling. So i suggested him to write an letter.

He spent the entire Sunday writing the letter and when he gave it to me for proof reading, I was literally so disappointed and actually told him "sale I would reject you agar tu muje letter deta". I wish I could have saved his letter to show it here as it was so waahihat that you would die laughing.

So being a true friend I took matters in my hand. Took a leave on Monday from collage went to ARCHIES and good some heart print letterpads. Wrote a letter with complete conviction, love , honesty about his feeling as I could actually feel his love.

We went to post office and posted the letter. it would take 5 days for the letter to get delivered. Still we were waiting to get her response. I had no idea why but even I was actually waiting as I am one who is looking for the response.

I remember it was Tuesday morning we were in the class and suddenly my phone started ringing. I checked my phone and it was unknown number starting 011 , immediately I realised that it was from Delhi, but I could not pick the call as I was in the class, so immediately asked my professor a quick break and went to washroom. While I was just moving the phone rang again, I could pick this time. I answered the phone and said Hello and I heard Hello Vinay - This is Pratibha from Delhi. I said i know you how are you. she replied I am fine, and then she asked is there any way I could speak to Sumesh is he with you. I said he is in the class. She said can you call him, as unfortunately i couldn't so I informed her that I will ask him to call back. She said she won't be able to talk to at home so can you call on the same number back in 30 mins. I said yes.

Some how i was very sure by the voice that she was very happy and wanted to confess her feeling. quickly went to class informed suresh to leave class in sign language. Immediately after break we went to washroom and called her on the landline she called us.

Finally they spoke and I could see Sumesh blushing and it felt so good words probably won't justify those feelings. The smile and happiness on sumesh face was unmatched to anything. Finally the love blossomed.

20 years down the line they are happy married couple and blessed with two beautiful angles. They have also framed the letter in the bedroom.

That was moment I realised the power of words and a amateur writer was born.

fun fact : I never wrote letter for my partner in crime.
