Chapter 1: ♥️♥️

Aria was mesmerized by all the part decorating in the town hall.

Aria: Another year around the month had passed, and tonight, the pack had joined me to celebrate my Lunar birthday. Every pack member who turns 21 celebrates their Lunar birthday as they become of age to find their mate. From this point forward, I can stumble upon my true mate ...... to finding their mate. But falling in love isn't something I'm actively seeking. I really want to find out who I am and where I came from.

Eden: Happy Birthday Aria!

Jolie: Happy Birthday Aria!

Aria's two tlclosest girlfriends, Eden and Jolie, pulled her in a celebration hug!

Aria: Thanks girls. The town hall looks incredible huh. I can't believe the pack went all out for me!

Eden: Of course they did. Your mom and I went all out for your big day!

Aria: Thank You Eden. I appreciate it!

Cherise: There's my favourite girl. Happy Birthday baby!

Aria: Hi! Mom. Thank You. You didn't have to go out all for this!

Cherise: It was a pleasure. You only get one Lunar birthday. One day soon, you'll find your mate and leave me!

Aria: I don't plan on meeting my mate any the me soon!

Cherise: You can stay with me for as long as you like. I better go greet out guests. Don't forget to say hello to everyone!

Aria: I promise I will greet everyone!

There was a commotion around the entrance that grasped Aria's attention. It felt as if the air left the building as the doors opened. In stops Cresent Creek's newest, Alpha l, Akash Coleman. Every female turned their attention to him, and Aria could see them silently swooned.

Jolie: Oh, look my date's arrived!

Eden: Jolie stop. He might hear you!

Eden and Jolie giggled, but Aria didn't. Akash Coleman sacres her. His brother on the other hand, does not. Lennis is one of her closest friends.

Jolie: What, I wouldn't give to be Akash's mate .....!

Aria: That would make you the pack's Lunar!

Eden: Jolie would make an excellent Lunar for Cresent Creek!

Aria frowned, knowing she'd never make a good Lunar or mate to anyone because of her disability.

Aria: No one wants an orphan who can't shift into her wolf form. I'd be a disgrace to my mate!

Lennix: Happy Birthday Aria!

Lennix startled her out of her self-deprecating thoughts and embraced her.

Lennix: How are you feeling about your Lunar Birthday? You know you could meet at any moment now .....!

Aria: Lennix, finding a mate is the last thing on my mind!

Lennix: I realized that, and you're the only female on our pack who isn't currently obsessed with it!

Aria: My head's somewhere else!

She rolled her eyes because most of her peers think she's a freak!

Lennix: Come outside with me. I want to talk to you!

Aria: Alright. It's incredibly beautiful out here at night!

Lennix: It is!

Lennix took her hands, looking deep into her eyes.

Lennix: Aria, no matter what you believe, smh make within this pack is lucky to have you a s their mate! You're smart and beautiful, and despite unable to shift, you're stronger than you think!

Aria: Thanks, Lennix!

Lennix: I hope it's me!

Aria: What do you mean?

Lennix: I hope we bond. I'd give anything to be your mate, Aria!

She stood there, unsure of what to say to Lennix's admission.

Aria: Lennix, I .....

A familiar scent catched her off guard, and she lost her thought as the smell of warmth and lust filled her nose!

Aria: Do you smell that?!

She sniffed around as Lennix took a step back.

Lennix: I don't smell anything. Are you ok?

She breathed the inviting scent through her nose, but it travelled straight to ehr core, making her ache in ways she had never experienced before.

Aria: Oh my ..... there's no way!

Lennix: You look pale. Mabey we should go back inside!

The scent wrapped around her, and she felt seducing aleveru part of her body. It's intoxicating, she stepped up to Lennix l, wondering if it was him, that she smelled. The. she smelled Lennix, but it wasn't him she smelled-not that he doesn't smell good.

Lennix: Way are you doing?

Aria: You can't smell that? It's hard to explain, but it smells like ......

Lennix: Your Mate?

She froze because Lennix said exactly what's been running. through her head.

Aria: My mate .... he's here somewhere!

She shies away from Lennix, but she felt dizzy.

Aria: There's. I way I'd find my mate in my Lunar Birthday. Right?

Akash stepped outside from the town hall. The soft lights inside illuminating him like a god.

Akah: You weren't born into this pack, so we don't truly know your birthday, do we?

Akash stepped closer, and her heart stilled as he took in his chiseled features.

Aria: He's the one I smell! There's no way the Alpha if Cresent Creek is my mate!

She struggled between running into her mate's arms and running away, but her feel wouldn't let her move.

Lennix: Akash, you're her mate? You can't be serious!

Lennix looked pained as his brother stepped closer. Het insides twisted, needing him to touch her or taste het, or even acknowledge her.

Aria: What if he rejects me as his mate? It's happened before!

Akash only nodded before Cedric-the pack beta, came running outside!

Akash peeled his gaze from her ad he turned to look at Cedric who looked frantic!

Cedric: We found another at the edge of the woods!

Cedric whispered to Aksh and Lennix, but she couldn't hear what he said.

Akash: .......

Everyone looked pained, especially Akash. They ran off, Akash not even saying goodbye or looking at her.

Aria: Lennix, what just happened?

Lennix: They found another victim. You need tk go straight to your mom!

The high finding her mate quickly wanned a reality steps In. Another member of her pack had been murdered. She couldn't sleep, so she sneaked off to the backyard to ponder today's events.

Aria: I can't believe we've lost another pack member so soon after the last victim. Akash and Lennix are still mourning their mother, and now we must grieve all over again!

She clutched her arms around her waist and glanced into the dark woods, wondering if someone's watching her right now.

Aria: I shouldn't be out here alone at night, but this has always been my place of solitude!

Suddenly she was startled when she heard rustling nearby, but the moment was so soft she assumed it was a deer.

Aria: I'm safe here. I have a gun in case I come across anything suspicious!

Just as she relaxed, all her senses went into overdrive as someone or something approached her.

Aria: Ahhhhhhhh

She went to run, but a hand caught her while another covered her mouth, preventing her from screaming.

Akash: Shhh .... Don't scream Aria!

She calmed down as he realized it was Akash. He released his hand and she turned to face him.

Aria. Why would you sneak up on me like that, jerk? I almost peed myself!

Akash: I snuck because you were about to scream and wake the whole town!

His addictive scent wafted Into her nose, putting her in a spellbinding trance.

Akash: There's a killer on the loose, and I wanted to check on you. Why are you outside in the middle of night, anyway?

Aria: I'm fine, I come out here all time. Why are you here?

Akash: You're my mate. It's my duty to che k on you!

Aria: You have to duty to me, Akash? You and I both know I can't be your Lunar!

Akash tugged a strande of her hair and twirled it through his fingers.

Akash: What makes you say that?

Aria: Because I can't shift to my wolf form. Everyone knows that!

Akash: Why does that make you unfit to be my mate?

Aria: Because it proves I'm weak!

Akash: You might think you're weak, but I've seen. you help out pack overcome their grief with every death we find. You make people smile and feel at home when they walk into the cafe' and order a drink from you. And I see you out here spending time alone, even though you know danger lurks. That takes guts!

Aria: Guts or stupidity. I haven't decided which yet!

Akash: You'll make a fine Lunar to Crescent Creek!

Aria: Are you saying you want me as your mate?

Akash: Is that what you want?

Aria: If you don't reject me, I'd be honored to stand by your side Akash!

Akash smiled for the first time, and it was devastatingly handsome grin that weakened her legs.

Akash: I don't see any reason to reject my mate and put us through that hell!

He's right. Rejecting someone's mate takes a terrible toll on your mind and body. Some don't survive.

Aria: I appreciate that, Akash. I know I'm probably not your first choice as a mate!

Akash: I never had hopes up for anyone. The Moon Goddess has her reasons for choosing mates. I'm quite happy with her decision!

Aria: I'm still shocked! I hardly know you!

Akash: We'll have to change that then, won't we?

Akash took her hand to his mouth and kissed it tenderly.

Akash: Why don't I court you, and we can get to know one another here?

He smirked, and her cheeks betrayed her ask they reddened.

Aria: Dating will do!

Akash: Aria, it's late and there's a murderer on the loose. Why don't you go inside a d go to bed?

Aria: Will you stay here with me, just a little longer?

Akash: If you'd like, I will stay!

She grinned as she stared up at the moon and then moved her gaze into the dark forest.

Akash: What are you thinking about?

Aria: I'm thinking about everyone we've lost to these senseless murders!

Akash: Losing my mother was hard, but losing a puppy is ......!

Aria: A puppy?

Akash: Yes. It was young brisket, who we found tonight! same style of murder as my mother!

Brisket is the puppy's name.

Aria: That's horrible. Brisket was so young ....!

Akash: Whoever is attacking id ruthless, but I will see that to this end!

Her mind slipped to those who've passed at the hands of a cold-blooded killer

Aria: I don't want to disappoint Akash or the rest of the pack, but how can I protect is when I can't shift?

Akash: I've lost you again!

She snapped out of her thoughts and frowned at Akash.

Aria: I've never been able to shift because of my bone desease. Shifting would literally like me. I can't protect Cresent Creek id my wolf can't coke through. I'd give anything to shift and run through the forest at night with the rest of the pack!

Akash: Perhaps one day you will!

She played down on the grass, and Akash later beside her.

Aria: I always thought you were arrogant and cokd-hearted-the opposite of Lennix!

Akash: Is that why you never spoke tome before?

Aria: I didn't think you realized I existed!

Akash chuckled as his eyes moved to hers.

Aria: Forgive me. It's going to get used to having you as my mate!

Akah: Why is that? Am I simply too romantic for you?

Aria: Mabey too cocky!

They both laughed, and it felt freeing and heartwarming, but then a yawn slipped through her lips.

Akash: Can I hold you while we lay here here, or do you want to go inside?

Aria: I'm not ready to go inside yet. Will you sit and satu with me?

Akash: Yes, I can!

Aria: Can I be honeys about something?

Akash: I hope you're always honey with me!

Aria: Actually you scare the hell out of me, but it trusy the Moon Goddess brought us together for a reason!

Akah: I've waited a long time for you to sense o was your mate!

She sat up looking at him in shock.

Aria: You knew I was your mate before tonight?

Akash: I've known for a few months now. I caught your scent at my mother's funeral!

Aria: Why didn't you tell me?

Akash: You weren't ready to know, and I didn't know how to tell Lennix. If you haven't noticed, my brother adored you!

Aria: Lennix is nice, but I don't have feelings for him!

Aria and Akash talked for a long while, but she drifted off to sleep to the steady beating of his heart at some point.

NEXT MORNING:

She woke up to the un parting thought the clouds and realized she had fallen asleep on the ground next to Akash. She sat up, realizing he had shifted to his wolf form, but he was still asleep.

Aria: His wolf looks powerful and threatening. Who knew his heart wasn't made of stone?

She felt a strong connection to him, but there was still doubt that he will keep his word and remain as her mate. Suddenly, there was screaming coming from her house, and it sounded like her mother.

Aria: Mom?

Before she could stand, Akash knocked her back and lunged forward, protecting her.

Cherise: Aria!

Her mom came into sight, and Akash growled and snarled, his back archng , and she realized he was about to attack.

Akash: Arrrrrrg!

Aria: Akas, Noooooo!
