Breaking Chains of Conformity
“Originality is independence, not rebellion; it is sincerity, not antagonism.” George Henry Lewes

“I can’t believe you said that!”
“I can’t believe you did that!”
Trying to count the many times I heard those words is impossible. All in the course of trying to find the true me.

We all grow up with all the rules of family, society, and religions. Being conformed to what they view as right and wrong. But, where in the course of time have we been allowed to find our true self?

Being well into adulthood, disowned by some family, was a blessing in disguise. Finally, a chance to find the true me. With solitude to search within, the process of discovery and rediscovery, peeling away the layers of expectations and demands, my true self is beginning to reveal itself.

Sifting through layers of bitterness, resentment, and guilt, life has presented in a different view. Not feeling the same as others, viewing life in a different lens, even values have changed.

One of my greatest blessings is learning to view the core of others. The deep seeded beauty that gets buried under life’s demands. It’s truly amazing to see beauty in every soul!

The thing I’m learning most is once you find the true self, never allow the world to change who you really are. The beauty in each soul is valuable to others in the world.
