Algae are born and nurtured in the water of a pond.
They cannot grow without it.
The pond, however, does not expect any gratitude
From the algae for giving it life.
Yet, the algae believes it is generous for
Giving a drop of dew to the pond.
It even tells the pond,
"I give you my dew, so show some gratitude towards me."
Sometimes, people who do small things
Think very highly of themselves,
While those who do great things remain humble.
Algae-like people are common,
While pond-like people are rare.
So, be like the pond: do great things but remain humble.
