Whispers of Time–Chapter 9–Bad Sign

She had never felt more cowardly, but she needed time to act more efficiently. She took a few breaths in front of a garage, feeling that the danger hadn't passed and decided refuge there. Beyond the metal piece, slightly punctured, she discerned two silhouettes in the dim light. One she identified as William, the other as Mell. She contemplated killing them both, but lacked a weapon. The light bulb flickered, and she asked her ghosts to play with them. Jasmine happily agreed, gaining control over two puppets. First, she targeted Mell, repaying betrayal with a gunshot. Meanwhile, William seized the chance to distance himself. Mey come out from her hiding place, chasing him with Jasmine. With a swift move, he threw herself over Mey. They both rolled, colliding with a tree, ending their small journey. William grabbed the gun, seeking revenge. He had discovered who killed his brother. Initially, he intended to teach a lesson—chronic suffering after losing a loved one. Finger on the trigger, ready to end the masquerade, the ghost possessed him. Muffled cries for mercy echoed in his mind, unheard by Mell. She had likely accepted her fate and punishment for betrayal. Mey rose, hoping it was over. Unfortunately, she felt a pain in her chest. Shot, she smiled at death, falling, staring at the shattered clock. In her last seconds, she sensed approaching footsteps. Unable to open her eyes, she recognized him. His voice, shaken and wounded, embraced her. With a torn soul, he whispered breathlessly:

-We'll meet again someday, and we'll be strangers until we remember...
